Featuring over 140 superbly crafted garments paired alongside photographs, sketches, stage costumes, excerpts from runway shows, film, television, concerts and dance performances, The National Gallery of Victoria’s latest fashion exhibit - The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk is an indulgence of exquisite haute couture, Parisian fashion influences, iconic power women, punk, sex and gender role play - part of Gaultier’s vision of fashion, which refuses to discriminate on the basis of age, gender, size, race or beliefs. It’s a celebration of art infused style with cheeky undertones, sexual innuendos, and that joie de vivre feel that Gaultier himself, so famously expresses.

Special mention to the incredible visual projections displayed on the mannequins faces to create the illusion of the models and JPG talking to the exhibit’s visitors.

The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk is at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne until February 8.IMG_8709.JPGIMG_8711.JPGIMG_8706.JPGIMG_8703.JPGIMG_8705.JPGIMG_8691-0.JPGIMG_8712.JPG
